There’s a lot of talk (and books) about hell these days

There’s a lot of talk (and books) today on the subject of hell (what is it and who may end up there). It’s important to understand what the Bible (God’s inspired word) has to say on it, not just other people’s opinions of it. dig into it, study it out. Here’s a good starting point:

Malachi 3:6 I am the Lord who changes not.
Hebrews 13:8: Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

I Corinthians 6:9: Don’t you know that wicked people won’t inherit the kingdom of God? Stop deceiving yourselves!

Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 10:28: And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

Revelation 21:8: But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

Read: Matthew 25:31-46

In Jesus own words, not everyone will experience heaven.

Heb 9:27-28Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

I read some of the book, “23 Minutes in Hell”…also watched the movie…I found much cannot be proven by the Word of God…

    this is a great topic…

I’m finding many things I was taught as a youngster in “religion” class about hell cannot be proven by scripture….ie..demons torturing souls, souls crucified on a cross for mocking the cross while on earth…different levels of hell for those that were worse offenders on earth….

any insight would be greatly appreciated…

I agree with Brian, Moon.  Gotta stay with the Word.  A lot of “visions” of both heaven and hell are suspect.  Can only agree with the Scriptures which sums up that hell is a place to be avoided at all costs.  And therefore real and a threat to the disobedient.

hey there all, about torment in hell,rev.20:10,it says tormented day and night, that does not sound like fun. just think about fire and burning sulfur, forever day and night and the torment ,with the tormentor of all times satan .what does that look like hear on earth, think of the worse situation of someone being tormented mentally and physically then put that in hell with satan whose mission here on earth is to kill ,destory ,ruin lives,on and on etc.think of the mines people have here on earth dealing with torment, just when i think it can’t be any worse then it is,wow it does.the things they come up with for scary movies is unbelievable, just put that in hell and 100x ‘s it ,just alone being separated from our Father in heaven by its self would be unbearable.and our own mines by its self would do us in.I believe God left that door open for our own imagination, torment can cover alot of things, and you can be sure of this, its probably something you dont want to discover the hard way because there is no escape, and i dont want to find out what the real truth about hell is,because no matter how you want to look at it ,its going to be HELL  FOREVER ETERNITY
