But What Am I Doing?

I keep a list of all the books I read or listen too, and was updating it this morning and it occurred to me that I have access to more theology and commentary on the Bible than 90% of the world will ever have.  At first I felt privileged, even honored to be in such a position.  Then I felt convicted at my lack of application of what I have learned.  Yes I have consumed a ton of books, and filled notebooks with notes on them, but what am I doing with that knowledge?  And in having knowledge of the Bible, how much do I have of its Author?

Doing the will of God is what sustained Jesus:  “Jesus said,  “The food that keeps me going is that I do the will of the One who sent me, finishing the work he started. (John 4:34)”  If it was necessary for Him to DO, not just BE, than I am to follow that example.

~ God, help me to discern and apply all that you have given me, so that when I die, my knowledge will not be able to fill volumes of books, while my experience in application of your Word hardly fills a single notebook.  Help me to see that lives are changed by the life I lead, not the books I read.
